Howard Bowcott is based in North Wales, UK, and works on arts and regeneration projects throughout the UK and further afield. Over the last twenty five years he has developed a substantial reputation in the field of public art, as both designer and hands-on sculptor.

Projects have included work for Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, Wolverhampton City Council, Cardiff City Council, Ammanford Town Council, and the 2005 award-winning re-design of Chepstow High Street in collaboration with Atkins, for Monmouthshire County Council. He is currently working on town regeneration schemes in Abergavenny, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Durham City, as well as a series of integrated artworks for the new Rural Life Centre in Bala, North Wales. Recently he worked with Atkins in Dubai, designing artwork integrated into the public realm for Palm Jebel Ali.

Complementing his hands-on approach as a sculptor, Howard also advises on public art strategy. He has recently completed strategies for public art in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales, and Durham City centre. He is also an experienced project manager, familiar with the procurement and delivery of multi-faceted arts projects, within tight construction timetables.

Although Howard often works on a large scale his work retains a human and inviting quality through careful attention to detail. The input of the site users and local community is always stressed, as is an acknowledgement of place and a distinct cultural heritage. He fully understands the constraints imposed by designing for the public realm, whilst remaining committed to the creation of contemporary artwork with integrity and imagination.
